Senior Software Engineer - Healthcare
Our client is a healthcare company looking to hire a Senior Software Engineer for thier technology group The incumbent software engineer will be responsible for the entire software development life cycle including test witnessing and software certification. Experience with field concepts, practices and procedures such as Software As a Service (SAS) and client messaging protocol will be required along with healthcare industry experience.
This is a contract to hire positions with pay rate and salary dependent on salary history. Software Engineers must be able to work both remotely and/or on site as directed by management. This position will be reporting directly to the VP of Technology & Product development
Job Description
Responsible for design, development, unit testing, and technical documentation of SAS (Software As a Service) software applications. Responsible for providing assistance to R&D specialists on system integration and testing. Provide customer support in troubleshooting production issues. Will work closely and in combination with DBA
Key Responsibilities:
• Development in the full lifecycle of software development methodology using Linux, MS Windows platforms; .net, Java, TCL, SQL languages and Relational Databases (SQL)
• Provide customer support in trouble shooting customer issues.
• Work closely with offshore development teams.
• Work with a team of business experts on the functional requirements and specifications.
• Translation of business logic from business specifications to the technical design and programming language.
• Provide assistance and consultations to R & D specialists on system integration and testing.
• Provide assistance with software installation.
• Communicate technical specifications and system documentation.
Minimum Requirements
• Minimum 6 years of experience in design, development and maintenance of SAS software applications. Detailed knowledge of the software engineering process, problem solving and decision-making ability.
• Strong experience in designing or participating in the architecture for SAS software systems.
• Experience in healthcare, particularly medical records and claims processing and/or contracting is a plus.
• Strong communication skills with a good understanding of layout and structure of company data stores.
• Experience with offshore vendors is a plus.
• Must also be reliable and devoted to completing assigned projects on schedule, with minimal supervision. Must be highly motivated, innovative, and a great team player.
Additional Knowledge & Skills
• Strong object oriented development skills and experience in the full life cycle of software development methodology.
• Maybe required to lead, supervise and provide oversight on specific projects
• Experience working on both Linux and MS Windows platforms.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with one or more of the following programming languages: C/C++,.net, Java, SQL,
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with relational databases (SQL preferable)
• Knowledge or exposure to the following technologies preferable: MySQL, Python, Perl, JSP, client messaging protocol,
Education
4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
